The backstory is gloriously Finnish. Hevisaurus was founded in 2009 by drummer Mirka Rantanen from the Finnish power metal scene, after a children’s concert with his own kids left him convinced that toddlers deserved better riffs. Real metal, capped at a child-friendly 85 decibels, aimed at ages two to nine. Finland bought 170,000 albums. The concept now gets licensed per country in the local language, because dinosaurs have no nationality. The German version, Heavysaurus, has played hundreds of shows and passed 25 million YouTube views.
We have covered comedy metal before, but this is something else. Nobody in this video is joking. The band plays it straight, the kids scream every word, and Summer Breeze put them on the bill next to the blast-beats without blinking.
