Yoth Iria — The Blind Eye of Antichrist (Official Video)

Yoth Iria back with their Metal Blade debut. The Magus has not softened a single edge in thirty years. Greek black metal is not a legacy genre. It is a living scene, and this track is the proof.

Greek black metal has a specific sound. Not a copy of the Scandinavian template. Something colder in its own way. Tonal, ritualistic, rooted in something older than second-wave Norway. Rotting Christ built the template. Necromantia added the occult weight. Varathron kept the flame when nobody else was watching.

Yoth Iria is where that lineage continues. The band was founded in 2019 by The Magus, who you probably know as one of the founding members of Rotting Christ. He left the band in the mid-90s. Then came back to black metal thirty years later with something new to say. “The Blind Eye of Antichrist” is the second single from Gone With the Devil, their Metal Blade Records debut.

The track does not race. It crawls. Mid-tempo riffs that feel carved rather than played. Vocals that sound like they come from further away than the vocal booth. There is a ceremonial quality to the production that matches the visual — candles, incense, a ritual that could be happening in Athens or Thessaloniki right now.

Metal Blade picking this up matters. It puts Greek black metal on a label with international reach at a moment when the scene deserves that reach. Hypostasis on the prog side. Rotting Christ still active. Now Yoth Iria making sure the darker end of the Athens underground does not go unheard.

Watch with headphones. The low end is where this track lives.
