Sanguisugabogg have never pretended to be anything other than what they are. Nasty, down-tuned, gut-churning death metal that smells like a basement floor after a three-day bender. “Abhorrent Contraception” is no exception. It might actually be worse. In the best possible way.
Josh Welshman from Defeated Sanity drops in for guest vocals and the contrast works brilliantly. Sanguisugabogg’s guttural approach meets Welshman’s more technical delivery. Two different schools of extreme vocals trading blows over riffs tuned so low they’re practically geological events.
The video leans hard into body horror. Practical effects, surgical implements, disfigured figures lurching through scenes that look like they were pulled from a banned 80s VHS. It’s exploitation cinema filtered through a death metal lens. Not subtle. Not trying to be.
Musically, the drums carry this track. Tight blast sections collapsing into sludgy breakdowns that hit like a dropped engine block. The guitars sit in that murky low-end space where individual notes blur into a wall of distortion. It works because they commit fully to the heaviness. No clean passages. No atmospheric breaks. Just relentless filth from start to finish.
This is the kind of collaboration that makes sense on paper and delivers in practice. Slam meets tech-death. Both sides show up ready to work.
