Paradise Lost - Serpent On The Cross

Paradise Lost return with a doom-laden riff and a music video that matches the weight of every note. Nick Holmes at his most gritty.

Paradise Lost dropping new material in 2025. Still heavy. Still bleak. Still exactly what you want from them.

“Serpent On The Cross” opens with a riff that sits somewhere between classic doom and the gothic metal they helped invent thirty years ago. Slow, deliberate, and heavy enough to leave a mark. The kind of riff that doesn’t rush anywhere because it doesn’t need to.

Nick Holmes sounds like a man who has lived every word. That voice has always carried weight, but here it hits different. Raw. Worn. Honest. The video, directed by Lars Kristoffer Hormander, leans into shadow and barren landscapes. No flashy edits. No gimmicks. Just mood matching music. Exactly the way it should be.

The atmosphere carries the whole thing. When the melody lifts just enough to let air in before dragging you back down, that is Paradise Lost doing what nobody else does quite as well. They built this sound. They still own it.
