Igorrr released the video for “Infestis” and it’s everything you’d expect from Gautier Serre’s brain. Black metal blast beats crashing into orchestral swells. Tibetan Dung Chen horns duelling distorted guitars. JB Le Bail’s screams layered against Marthe Alexandre’s clean vocals. Directed by Dehn Sora, who turned the whole thing into a visual fever dream.
This track works because Igorrr never treat genre-blending as a gimmick. The chaos is structured. The beauty is violent. Somewhere between Mayhem and Dead Can Dance, there’s a space that only this band occupies. “Infestis” sits right in the centre of it.
The choir section halfway through hits like a punch wrapped in a prayer. Gorgeous and grotesque at the same time. If you already know Igorrr, this is peak form. If you don’t, good luck explaining this to anyone who asks what you’re listening to.
