Electric Callboy - STILL WAITING

Electric Callboy covering Sum 41 and somehow making it heavier and more fun at the same time. Pure energy.

Electric Callboy covered Sum 41’s “Still Waiting” and did exactly what you would expect them to do with it. They kept the punk energy, cranked the production up, and layered their metalcore and electronic elements on top. The result is a track that hits harder than the original while keeping the same frustrated urgency.

The video matches the song’s pace. Rapid cuts, high energy, the band clearly having a good time. Daniel Haniss and Christoph Wieczorek handled production. They know the Electric Callboy sound inside out and the mix is tight. The electronic stabs sit perfectly alongside the distorted guitars without either drowning the other out.

What makes this work as a cover is that Electric Callboy don’t treat the source material with reverence. They rip it apart and rebuild it in their own image. The vocal delivery swings between clean and aggressive. The breakdowns are heavier. The synths add a layer that Sum 41 never had. It stops being a tribute and becomes their own thing.

Good cover versions don’t try to be faithful. They try to be honest. This one is honest. It sounds like a band that grew up on pop-punk and metalcore smashing those two worlds together because that is genuinely what they do.
