Bill Bailey: Any Song Sounds Better in Heavy Metal

Bill Bailey proves what we already knew. Every song improves with distortion and double bass. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has never sounded this good.

Bill Bailey is a metalhead. Not the kind who wears it on a t-shirt for Instagram clout. The kind who actually understands why a power chord in drop D fixes everything. He’s been saying it for years on stage: any song, any genre, any tempo. Add distortion, add aggression, add a double kick pattern. It gets better. Every single time.

This clip from his “Limboland” special is the proof. He takes “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and runs it through the metal filter. Nursery rhyme to headbanger in about four seconds. The audience loses it. Because they know he’s right.

What makes Bailey different from every other comedian who does a “metal bit” is that he can actually play. The man studied music. He knows his modes. He knows his time signatures. When he drops into that chugging riff, it’s not a joke. It’s a genuine riff. The fact that it happens to be “Twinkle Twinkle” underneath is what makes it funny. But the musicianship is real.

Watch his left hand. Proper fretting. Proper technique. He’s not fumbling through power chords for laughs. He’s playing them because he means it. Black Books star, Strictly winner, and a better rhythm guitarist than half the bands on the festival circuit. I will not be taking questions on this.
