Death metal

Death metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that is known for its deep growls, ramped up tempos, and high-pitched guitar solos. The genre originally grew from thrash metal and was popularized in the 1980s by bands such as Slayer, Morbid Angel, and Metallica.

Deathcore artists use a different vocal style than death metal artists with their vocals often being overlaid over a breakdown section in the song as opposed to a traditional verse or chorus. Deathcore music also has much shorter songs than other forms of death metals at about 2-6 minutes long on average.
