One of the most popular heavy metal bands in history, Metallica has sold more than 110 million records worldwide and played to millions of fans.

The band was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield. They were soon joined by bassist Ron McGovney, but he left the band after just a few months and was replaced with Cliff Burton, who would become one of the most influential heavy metal bassists of all time. In 1983, Metallica recorded its first album for Megaforce Records: “Kill ‘Em All.”
